Don Carlos Sangre de Toro is Fuente’s latest extension of the Don Carlos line. The blend features  Fuente’s classic Dominican binder and fillers, grown at Chateau de la Fuente; however, for the first time in history, the Fuente family is using a Mexican San Andres wrapper. The Sangre de Toro name, meaning “bull’s blood,” is a nod to the strength and intensity the family was trying to achieve with this cigar, but the Dominican fillers ensure the cigar isn’t bitter or overpowering.

Lit, the Sangre de Toro brings noticeably more strength than the classic Don Carlos, just as the name implies. The profile leans darker and richer, with flavors of earth, cocoa, and espresso leading the way, backed by black pepper and a savory, mineral edge from the San Andrés leaf. Despite the added power, it stays smooth and burns well. This is a must-have cigar for any Fuente Fanatic.
