A smooth, medium-bodied smoke that offers soothing notes of cedar, graham crackers, and molasses accented by touches of spice and black pepper. This Dominican puro uses a carefully aged Dominican binder and filler which are cloaked by a vintage, reddish Dominican Sun-grown maduro wrapper. The wrapper’s tobacco comes from the Chateau de la Fuente farm, which is owned and operated by the Fuente family (this is the same farm that grows the tobacco for the Fuente Opus X cigar). The Ashton ESG 21-Year Salute cigar was crafted to honor Ashton’s 21st anniversary of crafting fine cigars.  The cigars are handmade in the Dominican Republic.

  The Ashton ESG uses a unique Dominican wrapper grown on the Chateau de la Fuente farm in the Dominican Republic, which has never been used on any other cigar. The Ashton ESG blend is the creation of master blender Carlos Fuente Jr. who has created the most sought after cigars in the world. The rare tobaccos used in this spectacular cigar dictate that only extremely limited quantities can be produced.

Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

  The main tobacco region in the Dominican Republic is the Cibao valley in the northern part of the island. In the 60s, Cuban seeds were brought here by exiled Cuban cigar makers and found that they grew exceptional cigar tobacco, called Piloto Cubano. The native Dominican tobacco, called Olor, is milder than Piloto Cubano yet more aromatic. The first company to grow Dominican tobacco for cigar wrapper was Tabacalera Arturo Fuente in 1995.
