Padron 1964 Anniversary A Natural 81/4 * 50

I believe most cigar smokers are familiar with Padron, and that makes sense since (in my opinion) they make some of the best! Because of this, I wanted to maximize the time I had with this delicious cigar, and chose the Padron 1964 "A" in a Natural leaf. I had already smoked plenty of 1964 Padron's before, but I wanted to see if there really was such thing as "too much of a good thing". The Padron "A" is an 8 and a half inch stick that comes from Nicaragua, and in the Natural wrapper provides a medium-bodied profile with woody notes of nuts and white pepper. I never had to relight, and the burn was perfect, just like I expect from the Padron brand, and the aroma was as intoxicating as always. The cigar lasted me 1 1/2 - 2 hours, which some may find a little underwhelming at first due to its size, but remember that this is a modest 50 ring gauge, so it won't necessarily be the slowest burner. Nontheless, the Padron "A" was a lengthy and luxurious smoke that I really enjoyed from the very first puff until the very last. So far, the expression I mentioned earlier continues to prove false; at least with this cigar, you can never have enough. Picked on 05/26/2020
Aladino Patton 9 * 48

I'm already a huge fan of the Aladino brand, so when I saw the lengthy 9 * 48 Patton vitola hit the market, I marched straight for it. This Aladino is a 100% Honduras puro fully made out of the authentic Corojo tobacco that is the Eiroa family's trademark. The Patton starts with notes of cedar and some earthy flavors. The retrohale is a mix of pepper and earth. Entering the second part, the earthy wood notes continue with sweet caramel and orange in the background. I also began to find delicious notes of dark cacao in the retrohale by now. By the third section, the cigar still maintains the earthy notes while the cedar and pepper ramps up and becomes a little bolder. Still a medium-bodied cigar, but rich and well balanced. I am usually more into stronger, full-bodied sticks, but this is a go-to smoke for me every morning while getting ready to open the shop. Overall, the Aladino Patton is an amazing smoke in a generous size, but you can never have too much of a good thing! Picked on 04/11/2020
HVC First Selection Broadleaf 2018 Toro 6 * 52

HVC is a brand that was created to pay homage to Cuba. The HVC First Selection Broadleaf is made at the TABSA factory in Nicaragua, and everything that is made there is always amazing. The pre-light / cold draw is a mix of slight cedar and dark chocolate with an undertone of coffee. The cigar starts with some earth and dark chocolate and the retrohale has some notes of coffee and pepper, which makes this cigar amazing to pair with some Flor de Caña rum. Entering the second half I get to taste more of that well-balanced Nicaraguan puro flavor with the wood and spice complimenting each other, and the retro hale has more of a peppery dark chocolate with a long finish to it. The end of the cigar remains almost the same, maintaining the well-balanced full flavored profile of dark chocolate and wood. Throughout the smoking experience I was happy to appreciate the excellent construction that gave me a flawless burn, and never needing to relight even after a short 5 minute interruption. Overall the HVC First Selection Broadleaf Toro is a delicious stick that I highly recommend to any smoker looking for a rich cigar that isn't overly powerful. Try one today! Picked on 01/08/2020
Mombacho Tierra Volcan Clasico 51/2 * 50

Mombacho is a well-known boutique cigar maker. For this review, I smoked the Tiera Volcan Classico, 5 1/2 *50. This cigar is a 100% Nicaraguan puro. The wrapper has a beautiful natural brown look to it. The pre-light / cold draw of the cigar has some cedar note with pepper on it and a balanced background of chocolate. The Tierra Volcan starts with some notes of cedar and a hint of pepper. The retro hale has some more notes of pepper with a bit of the chocolate from the cold draw. All this makes the first part of the cigar somewhat a balance between chocolate and pepper merging into one note of full flavor but medium body. Into the second part, the cedar and pepper became a secondary note with chocolate becoming the primary note. I think this shift was because of the sun grown wrapper from Jalapa. During the final third, the pepper came back to shadow the chocolate notes and became the primary note you taste with a background of cedar. The retro hale is almost the same with a stand-out of the pepper with a sweet component in it. This cigar is a well-balanced cigar that will leave you wanting more!  Thank you, Maestro Claudio for this amazing blend. Picked on 11/19/2019
RoMa Craft Baka Bantu 4 * 52

The Roma Craft Baka Bantu is a limited cigar, as they only make 1,000 boxes a year. Roma Craft never disappoints with their cigars and how they have changed the way we look at Cameroon tobacco. The wrapper is a Cameroon, binder and filler are undisclosed. The pre-light/cold draw is a sweet taste with some hints of pepper and a woody taste. The Baka starts with a nutty taste and still some hints of pepper and very earthy flavor. Due to the small format the second part of the cigar changes somewhat dramatically with an increase in strength but not for long. It goes back to a medium profile , keeping the earthy notes on the retro-hale. The final third of the cigar keeps the woody and earthy notes with an amazing burning line. Picked on 11/14/2019
