Alec Bradley Black Market Esteli Robusto 5 * 52

If you’re looking for a cigar that you can enjoy without scrutiny, look no further than the Alec Bradley Black Market Esteli. This robusto is unapologetically consistent in flavor all throughout. While this lack of complexity might traditionally discourage a cigar connoisseur from picking this stick up, it is not a detrimental quality. This is a valuable characteristic for the smoker looking for a cigar that they can pay little mind to as they relax on a poolside. Furthermore, this stogie also has a peculiar feature in its smoke. The smoke one draws is heavy and lingers on one’s tongue until it is all expelled. This lets one enjoy the rich grassy and earthy flavors this cigar carries to its fullest extent. This is a stick to pick up on your way to an all-inclusive beach resort vacation, where you might want to smoke a cigar with simple good flavors rather than nuanced notes. The Alec Bradley Black Market Esteli Robusto: a cigar for someone with a drink in their hand, on a beach, without a care in the world. Picked on 04/04/2019
Archetype Axis Mundi Corona 5 * 46

A great burn is a rare feature in cigars. Sure there are good burns but great – this is a tough find. When you do find it however, oh the joy that comes with it is something any cigar smoker will appreciate. The Archetype Axis Mundi has one of the greatest burns I have ever experienced. The Axis Mundi is a stupendous cigar with a construction that lets one sit back and relax a consistent flavor of cedar and oak that covers the tongue. While consistency may be a mark of dullness in some cigars, the Axis Mundi does not have this problem as the woody flavor is something one begs for even once the cigar is finished. Do be sure to enjoy this stick on a full stomach, as it does carry a subtle punch to be appreciated after a night of celebratory indulgence. Pairing this cigar is simple, select the drink you love to enjoy over the course of an hour or so, pour it, light this cigar up and prepare for an hour of sitting back and wasting away as a cigar that takes care of itself. La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Maduro Chiselito 5 * 44

If one were to analyze what made La Flor Dominicana the iconic brand it is today, three main factors come to mind: the release of the Andalusian Bull, the creation of the chisel tip, and the development of the popular Double Ligero blend. The latter two reasons are combined in use in the Double Ligero Maduro Chiselito creating one of my favorite cigars. To begin, the construction of this small cigar makes it stand out to me most in my mind, with a small 44 ring-gauge and 5” length making it a stick of convenience easily enjoyed in a 30 to 40-minute break. Furthermore, the chisel tip adds to this convenience as a cutter or punch are not required with a simple squeeze of the chisel “popping open” a great draw that does not sacrifice the smoker’s ability to chew on the head, as this style of cigar head is just as strong as a triple-cap. Now the flavor this cigar has, is to die for. It is highly concentrated and complex. The most prominent notes that I picked up were dark chocolate, oak, and cedar with the dark chocolate getting more intense as the smoker progresses. The powerful Dominican filler would make this cigar dry out one’s mouth; yet, the Ecuadorian Maduro wrapper acts as a nice hydrating compliment which coats the tongue in a watery aftertaste. Overall, I would highly recommend this cigar to a lover of heavy, flavorful smokes who finds themselves pressed for time and wanting to savor every moment of their shortened smoking experience.
