Onyx Reserve Toro 6 * 50

At first glance, the Onyx looks like a chocolate treat. Its Broadleaf wrapper is aesthetically pleasing and oily. At first puff I encountered a pleasant nutty taste with hints of espresso. Quickly the cigar produced a sweetness that in my mind took over, but a superb sweetness accenting the espresso. The sweetness lasted pretty much the whole cigar and was quite doting. The ash of the cigar held up and burned quite well. For the money this cigar should be in everyone's portfolio as its different from the usual spicy woodiness of most cigars and will add a nice in between to your tedious routine. Picked on 04/13/2019

The Illusione OneOff is a beautifully wrapped cigar, the Honduran wrapper is properly de-veined and is light brown almost like a light caramel. Looking at the band all I can think of are hippies as it has a distinguished white peace symbol over an orange background, it pleasantly contrasts with the wrapper. On the dry drag of the cigar I got notes of cedar and pepper hinting at the most profound characteristics of this roll. The burn for the cigar was excellent as I did not have to relight nor fix any uneven burn lines. The most prominent notes in the cigar were oak and pepper. The oak was hinted with some cedar and a light cream while the pepper was everywhere. Definitely a peppery cigar, the finish of this stogie was quite bold detonating with pepper leaving the oak and cream there just to alleviate your palate. Well worth its sticker price, one wonders if he/she should grab another! Picked on 04/06/2019

Wasabi! You all know this green paste as an extremely spicy addition to sushi. In fact the wasabi you see at the restaurants and market places isn't entirely from the plant. Real wasabi is known as one of the most difficult plants to cultivate and has a very high price per kilo, one most people would rather do without. Lucky for us though, this Wasabi is a cigar. The cigar got its name for the candela wrapper. Unlike the wasabi you tend to eat it is not extremely spicy, rather it is a bit more complex than that. While there is some spice to the cigar I detected notes of leather, nuts and wood. Personally I am not a fan of candela wrappers but boy was I impressed, don't look past this because of previous experiences with other candelas this cigar is a treat! Pair this up with your favorite drink and be ready to be blown away! Picked on 03/25/2019

The Foundation Charter Oak is an inexpensive 45 minute - hour long smoke. With a light Connecticut wrapper, this cigar is easily smoked by anyone, both those who are well versed in the cigar world and those experimenting with their first cigar. Being priced at $4.50 a stick, it is an excellent bargain, as this cigar smokes more like a premium than budget. The Charter Oak held its ash and produced an exceeding amount of smoke. With notes of leather, oak and cinnamon, this tasty cigar has quickly become a regular in my arsenal. Picked on 02/20/2019
Diesel Whiskey Row Robusto 51/2 * 52

The Diesel Whiskey Row is a nice cigar with some of the tobaccos aged in bourbon barrels. The barrels are from the Rabbit Hole Distillery. Aging the tobaccos in these empty barrels allows the cigar to pick up slight hints of the flavors from the whiskey that once found home to these barrels. In appearance, the cigar is smooth and the bands cover up a lot of the cigar, highlighting the bourbon barrel aging process. Smoking the cigar was a treat. The smoke was very smooth and flavorful. Throughout the whole cigar there was a hint of pepper in the back of the throat which contrasted with its subtle sweetness and whiskey notes. Some notes of leather and oak came about with the retro-hale, also giving a wonderful burning pepper sensation. Cigar is medium to full in strength and is constructed quite well. I did not have to relight the cigar nor did I have to fix its burn. For a cigar under $8, it's everything you expect and more. Picked on 02/14/2019

The Excalibur Epicure by Jose Gener has been on the market for some time now. Over the years, I have smoked several of these and decided it was time to let the world know of this gem. The cigar is wrapped in a Connecticut Shade wrapper and is light brown and smooth to the touch. This cigar boasts flavors of creme, nut, wood, cardamom, and spice. The filler containing Dominican, Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos adds some strength to the mild Connecticut binder and filler. The cigar burned quite slow, putting me at about an hour and ten minutes of burn time. If you haven't smoked this yet, or if it's been a while since you have, I recommend picking it up and pairing it with a nice dark espresso or a smooth scotch! Picked on 02/02/2019

In the essence of true luxury, the Zino Platinum brand was created. The Platinum Chubby is a exquisite-looking perfecto shaped cigar that boasts its 61 ring gauge with pride. A light Ecuadorian Shade wrapper is offset by the black and silver Zino band. Lighting the cigar, my palate immediately registered a creaminess with a hint of spice to start it off. A few puffs down the road, the creaminess is prevalent while setting aside the light spice somewhat. Arising from the smooth textured smoke, notes of cedar and nut came to mind. The cigar and its flawless burn caught the eye of other smokers around me, and only dropped ash when I wanted it to. All in all, an opulently priced premium smoke that is very well worth it. The Chubby also makes an excellent gift and even better “special occasion cigar”. Life is short - everyday is a special occasion! Picked on 01/12/2019

I’m a big fan of maduro and lancero cigars. But, it’s hard to find a cigar that employs these two elements in a satisfying manner. Well, guess what? Crowned Heads has expertly melded these two aspects into one cigar: the Four Kicks Maduro Lancero LE 2018. Long and lean this lancero measures 7 1/2” in length, and it’s packed with flavor. How did they do it? As you know, the cigar’s wrapper is where most of the flavor is held. By using a small 38 ring gauge (that’s a little over a half-inch in diameter), the Four Kicks Maduro Lancero uses less filler, which allows the wrapper’s flavor to stand out. The Four Kicks Maduro Lancero LE 2018 burns splendidly, and tastes great. But don’t wait too long to get your hands on one. The Four Kicks Maduro Lancero LE 2018 will be around for a limited time (in case you’re wondering, the LE stands for Limited Edition). Crowned Heads made only 1,500 boxes. Each box contains 10 cigars. And once they’re gone, they’re gone! Picked on 09/03/2018

In the cigar world you see a lot of cigars and spirits but not many cigars and music pairings. Erik Espinosa went there with the Espinosa Reggae Dread cigar, currently produced in his factory La Zona in Esteli, Nicaragua. The Dread cigar has its own dreadlocks made of tobacco coming out of the head of the cigar, and the band boasts Rasta colors: green, yellow, and red. A funny looking, yet dark and beautiful cigar. I decided to punch my cigar being that it is a fatter cigar then I am used to smoking. The ash remained on the cigar and only fell when I tapped it on the ashtray. Espinosa's Dread boasted flavors of sweetness along with some earthiness and spice to balance it out. A medium to full bodied cigar, this cigar is so hearty you should make sure to eat a good meal before. Picked on 04/06/2018

Being a big fan of Undercrown I had to try their Undercrown Shade and what better way to try it than the short and to the point coronet. The cigar at 4" * 32 lasts about 30-45 minutes and is delicious every minute. The draw of the cigar is easy and with a lot of smoke as expected from an Undercrown cigar. The cigar has this sweetness behind the woody and earthy tones. The refined flavors of the cigar pair well with a dainty coffee. Cigar is great for a short break or a quick smoke in the cold. Pick one up, you wont regret it. Picked on 01/15/2018

The Davidoff brand is a luxury cigar brand so one would expect a hefty price tag but do not let that discourage you. This cigar is exquisite. The Ecuadorian Sungrown wrapper is smooth and is dark enough to contrast well with the Davidoff band to pop out. The draw is perfect where I do not have to fight it and it doesn't feel like I am choking on smoke. A medium to full bodied cigar this cigar boast full flavor but is very smooth. At first light the cigar kicks with some spice that stays throughout the whole cigar but softens up as you smoke it. Behind the spice the cigar has a earthy and woody notes which balance well with the spice. The cigar also has some sweet notes at times. Getting to the final part of the cigar everything comes together for a smooth robust finish that leaves you wanting another. Picked on 01/07/2018

The Ashton VSG TAA Robusto Especial is an excellent cigar. At a glance it is quite dark, contrasting with a beautifully crafted band emphasizing the wrapper color. The construction is flawless and burn is even; ashing only when directed to. I even left the cigar for a little came back and it was still lit! The cigar boasts rich flavors of molasses, nuts and slight pepper. It was delicious from the very first puff to its very last as I was practically burning myself trying to savor every last puff. I was not sure what to smoke this week so I figured why not go back to the cigar that turned me on to premium cigars. The Herrera Esteli Piramide Fino. I remember when I first smoked this cigar I thought it was incredible. The cigar is extremely well constructed with an even burn and tight ash. Flavor notes include citrus, nut, espresso, and some cedar. This cigar reminds me of some Cubans I’ve smoked. This cigar was the first of many blended by Master Blender Willy Herrera in collaboration with Drew Estate after leaving his family’s El Titan de Bronze Factory. It is a masterpiece. First puff to last you won't be disappointed. Picked on 09/22/2016

To start I will admit that I am a huge Liga fan. Drew Estate's Liga Privada line is a groundbreaking cigar. The elegant chocolate colored broadleaf wrapper is perfect and smooth to the touch. Lighting the cigar in the first third I experienced a slight pepper along with a lot of espresso like a nice dark roast. As you make your way through the cigar some chocolate and nut appear in the palate to nicely complement the espresso. The espresso stays prominent throughout the burning of the cigar. The smoke produced from the cigar is thick and silky smooth and the white ash only fell when I wanted it to. I recommend this cigar to anyone looking to indulge in a pleasurable smoking experience. Even at $14 a stick I would say it’s a fair price for such a great smoke. Picked on 07/23/2016

Padron is known for their mark of excellence in the cigar making world. As of the end of last year, they released their 50 year anniversary blend which was an instant hit, even made its way to Cigar Aficionado's prestigious Top 10. At a glance the dark wrapper looks like it came right out of a box of delicious chocolates. The smoke lasting about 45 minutes to an hour, it was nothing short of perfection. La Flor really hit it with this double wrapper cigar. The TCFKAM or The Cigar Formally Know as Mysterio is a very interesting smoke. This cigar is a medium bodied smoke, draw is slightly tight with the pigtail so I recommend to cut a little bit with a guillotine to give it a smooth draw. The flavor of the cigar starts off with a creamy nutty flavor. As you smoke the cigar it changes to espresso as you reach each of the darker bands, you get espresso notes that lighten and get more prominent as you get to each dark wrap. Burns slowly which I enjoyed because I was able to enjoy its flavors longer. Cost is up there but worth every single penny. Picked on 01/13/2015
