This hearty, medium bodied cigar offers harmonious notes of cedar, pepper, spice, and leather. Its Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper covers a Nicaraguan binder and filler. Handmade in the Dominican Republic at the EPC Cigar Company. The Headley Grange cigar line was inspired by the recording studio of the same name in which Led Zeppelin recorded their legendary song “When the Levee Breaks.” Like the song, the Headley Grange cigar offers a bold, mesmerizing smoking experience.

  Crowned Heads’ John Huber likes to name his cigars and cigar lines after legendary songs, musicians or something from the music industry. The Headley Grange collection was named after the recording studio in East Hampshire, England where the seminal rock band Led Zeppelin recorded their hard driving song “When the Levee Breaks.” Huber’s goal was to create a cigar  “... that tastes the way the drums sound on ‘When The Levee Breaks.” And the Headley Grange cigar hits that mark with its bold, hearty smoking profile that is just as captivating as the song. The cigar features a warm-tan Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper that cloaks a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The cigars are expertly handmade at Ernesto Perez-Carrillo’s Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic.

  Box-Pressed (Square)

  A box pressed cigar is a cigar that has a square shape. Originally, this shape came from the practice of packing round cigars tightly in cardboard boxes which are then compacted using a manual press. The cigars are thus pressed into each other and become a "squarish" or semi-square shape. Today, cigar makers use square shaped molds or a wooden trunk press for their box pressed cigars, achieving a more defined square section.

  The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

  Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, a legend in the industry since the success in the 90s of his La Gloria Cubana brand, has now created E.P. Carrillo which he runs with his family. In 2009, he began making the cigars that bear his name in his own factory called Tabacalera La Alianza located in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

  The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
  Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type wrappers to many cigar factory in the world.

  The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together. 
  Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.
