Eireann Francis  how does this work? do i put in my new hygrometer in the bag n see if it matches 75%? is this meant to check my hygrometer’s accuracy?

Mark   If the seal on the bag breaks, can you use a zip lock bag in place of that ?
Posted 6/3/2021
  • NeptuneCigar.com  If there is a size difference it might affect the accuracy. You can try to reseal the original bag however.

Tony  Is there any reason why I could not buy more 8 gram 75% packs and reuse the bag to achieve the same results? Or even use a 69% or your pillow pack (sent w/purchases)?
Posted 2/7/2021
  • NeptuneCigar.com  Hi Tony, you may use a fresh 8 gram 75% pack or 69% pack to test the readings of your hygrometers. This calibration kit is good for those who do not need to buy an entire brick of Boveda humi packs. Water Pillow humidifiers cannot be used to test the accuracy of a hygrometer's reading.

Walter Jakubin  I'm trying to set my hygrometer to match what my digital is reading but when I do it always springs back to the incorrect reading .
Posted 1/3/2021
  • NeptuneCigar.com  Hi Walter, we've seen this happen before and usually the hygrometer needs replacement. Did you purchase the hygrometer from Neptune Cigar? If so, please email [email protected] with your order number and a detail of the issue.

Marco  I purchased 2 of these test kits and both bags would not seal anymore after I tested 2 hygrometers. Can these be only used once or twice?
Posted 1/24/2020
  • NeptuneCigar.com  They can be used multiple times but care must be taken to avoid rips or punctures in the bag as well as damage to the zip seal

  • Marco  Is there anything I can do if the bag no longer seals?

  • Jonas  I had the same problem, but I recharged the boveda pack with the osmosis method (Google it) and put it in a zip lock bag which I bought in a supermarket.

Tim  How long should I let the hygrometers sit in the kit for? What is the recommend time?
Posted 1/12/2020
  • NeptuneCigar.com  It's recommended to allow the hygrometer 24-36 hours in the calibration bag.

  • Tim  If the hygrometer reads 75% before 24 hours should I still leave it in the bag?
    Replied 1/18/2020
  • NeptuneCigar.com  It is recommended...but if you are confident that it is calibrated correctly, you can remove it early.

Mark  How many hygrometers can you test in one of these packs?
Posted 1/11/2020
  • NeptuneCigar.com  At the same time, as many as you can fit inside. If one at a time, you can use the kit until the actual Boveda pack begins to dry out.

  • Mark  How long should you leave them inside the pack? What would you recommend?

Description

This is a simple and surefire method to accurately calibrate any digital or analog hygrometer. The kit uses a 75.5% relative humidity standard—widely used and accepted by chemists and lab professionals to determine the accuracy of any hygrometer (also known as the “salt test”). Humidipak’s One Step Calibration kit is used by some of the top museums in the world to calibrate their instruments, including the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.  Shelf life: 2 years inside the plastic wrapping. Hygrometer in picture not included.
