For more than twenty years, Eduardo Fernandez, founder and master blender of Aganorsa Leaf (formerly known as Casa Fernandez) has been developing the Aganorsa Leaf tobacco. His hard work has paid off, and it’s evident in the Aganorsa Leaf Validacion Habano. A Nicaraguan puro from seed to cigar, the Aganorsa Habano uses an exquisite blended filler made of Corojo and Criollo 98 tobaccos that is surrounded by a Nicaraguan binder. All these fine tobaccos are covered by a beautiful Habano wrapper. A medium-strength, but full-bodied stick that delivers a complex flavor profile that is nutty, peppery, spicy, and creamy. The cigars undergo a rigorous quality control process before they are finally released. They call it “validacion,” which is Spanish for validation or validating.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Natural wrapper, also known as Colorado Claro, is light brown in color.

Nicaraguan Habano
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.

NeptuneCigar.com Hi Michael, we also carry the Aganorsa Leaf Signature Selection Maduro. It has the same filler, but uses a different binder and wrapper.

My experience with the validacion was the same as the various reviewers below. Tight draw but tasty flavors. An earthy and peppery smoke. I enjoyed it even with the firm draw.

Very firm construction with a really tight draw. Had a hard time keeping it lit and had some burn issues requiring several touchups. Tasty flavors though of earthy black coffee and some peppery spice.
