Rich and spicy, the new blend of La Aroma de Cuba is now handmade in Nicaragua by Pepin Garcia. The new cigar features gorgeous chocolaty Connecticut Broadleaf wrappers and a rich, spicy blend of Nicarguan tobaccos.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Colorado maduro wrapper is milk chocolate brown.

USA Connecticut Broadleaf
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Connecticut Broadleaf is grown in the United States' Connecticut Valley and is prized for its dark, oily, full flavored and aromatic characteristics. The plants are grown in full sun giving this cigar wrapper its characteristic sweetness. The Connecticut Broadleaf plant leaves are mainly processed as maduro tobacco. Today, Connecticut Broadleaf seeds are being grown in other countries besides the United States.
Binder
Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Great burn, good draw and lots of smoke. Earthy, leathery flavor with some spice. It turns a little harsh in the final 3rd if you rush it - but that can be said for almost any cigar. All in all a good smoke at exceptional value.

This is one for the Big Boys. I've smoked the La Aroma de Cuba 6 inch cigar and enjoyed it so much I keep a box in my humidor. The El Jefe is the same but a LOT more of it. I really enjoyed this stick but I have to be honest it's a long smoke. For me that was just more to enjoy. The Spice notes are what I like best about this cigar and int he 7 inch there is a lot of spice. Give it a try and see if you don't like as much as I do.

I have had 3 of these cigars prior to writing this report, the taste is sweet with a waffle aroma with a pepper finish, it went uneven once mid way I was impatient to let it fix itself, went well after a relight the second and third were fine, but they do not like to be left unattended all in all I enjoyed this cigar but will go smaller next time

This is a nice way to try both of these lines and I have always been interested. I've tried one of each and they are probably and ok purchase at about $8/stick. Flavors are nice but for me not nice enough to buy in for a box of either.

Excellent sampler, not a dud in the bunch. The San Cristobals struck me as medium and creamy with the monumento coming in nutty and a cocoa element with the revelation. The LADC robusto was med-full with a woodiness and the MI Amor reserva employs my fav blend of San Andres over Nicaraguan fillers. The MI Amor and MI Amor reserva are my favs but you can't go wrong with any of the five.

I agree w most reviews here. This stick is bursting with great maduro flavor, so much so that you’d think it’s twice the price. A bit more spice than the traditional maduro, esp in last third, which was a nice surprise for my palate. Sweet cocoa, earthy, some cedar, delicious from start to finish.

Two knocks on this cigar. It was pretty strong, I found. And the flavor was just ok. Really nice aroma, and good construction. Dre started a bit loose, but got progressively better in the second third. Wry good smoke production. Even burn, no re-lights needed. Ash was very flaky, which was a little annoying.

Even burn, good draw, nutty, creamy, and baked bread. It's a great cigar for the price, but the scent disappears rapidly at 2/3. And the taste disappears when there's about one and half inches left. It's great cigar if you evaluate it on a price basis, but I think it's just good somehow cigar if you evaluate it without considering the price. In my opinion, 93 point is too much high rated.

I want to like the La Aroma de Cuba. It has a good taste and flavor, but they sometimes make me a little sick to my stomach afterwards. The last one also got a little harsh towards the end. I'm a fairly new cigar smoker, so prefer mild to medium. This one seems stronger than a medium. It's a great cigar for the money, just too strong for me.

I have smoked these off and on for years. Heck, I even smoked them before they were changed around by ‘My Father Cigars.’ The recipe change did well and they are even better. The cigar has a classic “ fine cigar” aroma of roasted nuts, new leather, and cocoa. The taste is quite mellow, and rich, with a smooth rounded feel. Notes of roasted coconut, cashews, leather and coffee. A fine cigar mornings or nights.

Ordered a box and all of them look very nice and consistent. The draw on most is a little tight for my liking and a few of the sticks needed a touch up on the burn but for a sub-5$ stick I'd say its forgivable. The aroma is nice but nothing amazing or notable. The hearty woody pepper notes build up quite a bit through the second third and I really enjoy the flavor especially for the price.

Despite the size, it is an easy and delightful smoke. The aroma is quite alluring, I would describe it as a musk with floral accents. The dry pull was so easy, it wasn’t too loose or too tight; it was just right. The body was firm, no soft spots or visible defects. Once I toasted the foot the smoke wasn’t overpowering, a clean white smoke and strong aromas. My initial draw was still good, didn’t burn hot or overpower me at all, it was quite mild and appealing. The retrohale introduced me to flavors I would equate to cognac and sweet earth. It was sweet in terms of flavoring but it wasn’t a rich deep mocha or coffee flavor. The overall cigar is worth every penny and time spent smoking.

This is a great cigar and holds its own agains those at twice the price. The drawn seemed a bit loose at first, but settled in after a half inch. Burn went a little nuts about half way, but then corrected. On the shy side of full strength and that’s fine for me. I’ll get these again.

El Jefe is big, beautiful cigar that crowns the La Aroma de Cuba brand. It was a bit bland to start out and nothing really stood out to me. That's the only reason I gave it four stars on the taste. Then with about 2/3s left it came to life and produced the flavors we've come to expect from these cigars. Toast, mocha and hints of chocolate were there and for me it only got better as it neared the end. A very satisfying smoke. Just make sure you have the time so you don't have to rush through it.

I am in love with this cigar! Everything about it is truly amazing! Pre-light you can definitely taste chocolate, coco, hay with a hint of spice. With tons of white smoke I was extremely impressed how this cigar kept its ash; it finally fell off close to the band. Not sure if it was the meal that I had beforehand but into the second third I swear I could taste salt! By the final third, hay and spice were the two predominant flavours. Once again lots of white smoke and tight ash carried me home. This cigar is soooo good I kept smoking it down to my finger tips. This one is a winner and I will be ordering more. Smoking it down to your finger tips and reordering, you can't get a better endorsement then that.

Wow! These robustos are really strong. They look pretty innocent but once they're lit they release a full range of flavourful notes that range from earth to pepper and then to leather and vanilla. In the last third it is a little to harsh for my palate but will definitely be trying the other cigars from this line. The only thing that I expected was a more "sealed" box. But honestly, it'd been long since I tasted something that really brought my senses back to Cuba.

This cigar was worth more then I thought it would be. The first initial puff was very rewarding. I knew from the first puff that I was going to enjoy this cigar. The LADC Monarch is this line's Toro, a 6x52 beaut that has the usual rough hewn finish typical of LADC, which I rather like. Close to, you'll notice that the lovely mottled dark- and reddish- brown wrapper is quite toothy. Flavors range from black peppery spice through hints of espresso, chocolate and a caramel or molasses sweetness. A very satisfying smoke, I'm glad I picked up a box. The price at Neptune was the best going online, too, and that makes smoking these even better!

Spectacular stick. Although slightly longer than a standard robusto (not by much at all, but just enough not to fit with the other robustos partitioned in my humidor. Exceptional. As mostly a cuban cigar smoker (living in S American 99% of all cigars are from Habanos SA) I always have a reserve of these sticks in pre-mentioned humidor.

I am a Fuente fan but wanted to try this cigar since it had such good ratings. I would give cigar a very slight edge in taste over the A Fuente, but not by much. Very pleased with all aspects of this cigar.

I want to start this review of by saying that I had very high expectations for this cigar; and it lived up to every expectation. I was recommended this cigar by countless customers so naturally my curiosity was peaked. At a glance this cigar has a beautiful chocolaty exterior. From the first puff to the last your taste buds are teased with natural hints of cocoa and nuts. The burn is strong throughout along with a consistent draw. Smells and tastes amazing. I would rate this cigar 9/10, and I definitely pass this recommendation on to anyone who enjoys a great, affordable, medium/full-bodied smoke. Enjoy!

Rated so highly for many reasons. It is by all intents the perfect cigar. Look, feel,smell,draw, and smoke are all what you expect in a stick rated 93. What you DON'T EXPECT is the price. At less than 8.00 a piece you would think this is a great buy. But at under 5.00 at stick this is a must have. Before these go up in price try some..then stock up the humidor. You won't be sorry.

At first glance this cigar is a beautiful cigar -- nice toothy wrapper. The draw was effortless and the cigar burned perfect the whole time -- even after setting it down a couple times during my smoke. Never had to relight! The cigar started a bit peppery but mellowed out quickly with some cream and chocolate notes in the first third. It then changed into notes of woody and nutty. I was definitely impressed with the complexity. The cigar also remained cool throughout. Overall it was a great full body cigar without the harshness!

If I had to describe this gem in 3 words, they would be: Oh my god. Soon after lighting, I knew I was in good hands. First came pepper, which after a while gave way to a host of subtle flavors including old leather, oak, and a pleasant yeasty taste. As I smoked, the pepperiness returned, faded, and returned again. How do cigar makers do that? All the while I was enveloped in heavenly aroma and plentiful smoke. A stiff ash developed that grew and held for inches. This cigar was clearly designed by a master, an artist who manipulates tobacco the way Coltrane manipulated tones. It was made by a skilled, experienced craftsman in total control of his materials. Draw: perfect. Burn: even. Flavor: lots. Complex: you bet! I smoked this dark beauty way down, not wanting to let it go. In the end, there was a little bitterness, like when you say goodbye to a good friend. This is an experience I definitely want to repeat. It also made me want to try all of the maker’s other blends, to find out what I’ve been missing!

First time with this cigar. Great packaging of each stick with the red ribbon at the end and the very ornate ring. Just a good looking stick. I was surprised how firm the entire length felt with almost no give at all. I assumed it would be a very compact, tight draw. Couldn't have been further from the truth. One of the lightest draws I have experienced. Within second of having lit it on my balcony, my daughter and grandchildren arrived and I had to leave it sit for about 15 minutes. Had only taken one draw. I came back to find it still burning but slowly enough to appear as I had left it. The flavour was just a touch peppery to begin with and just got better and better as it went. It went from great to greater the further I got. I can't express how impressed I am with this stick. Definitely a top five for me. And the price is far less than any of my other faves. As soon as the humidor permits, I will be getting at least a box of these. WOW!

For my persnoal preference this i must stay away from Don Pepin, good wood and nut flavors, slight sweet coffee, and lots of pepper in first light, had to touch up a couple times, enjoyable smoke, next time i might pair with some rum to take away some of the harshness, good cigar overall.

I really love this brand and this is the optimal size for my preferences. I also love the robusto size. I like this five dollar stick better than the other two La Aroma de Cuba series. A great cigar that will make your pocketbook smile.
