His cigars are the result of blending tobaccos from various regions to produce the perfect blend, and a marked emphasis on quality control. The Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 was the first cigar to bear the Rocky Patel name. Smooth, well-balanced and nutty, this cigar is made with 12 year old Honduran broadleaf wrapper. Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Honduras, a Central American country which shares a border with Nicaragua, is widely known in the premium cigar industry as the ideal place to grow Cuban and Connecticut seed tobaccos. Danli and the Jamastran Valley is considered the heart of Honduras’ cigar industry. The Jamastran Valley is known for producing a full-bodied tobacco that draws strong comparisons to the tobacco grown in the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. This same region is also known for its Connecticut shade grown and Corojo shade grown tobacco. In addition, Honduras produces Cuban-seed sun grown filler tobaccos of the highest quality.

Trevor Murdie Hi I bought a box of 50 RP 1990 juniors and went to write a review and was told I couldn't as I had already commented on these cigars. Now I find I can't recieve my 100 smoke rings is there any way this can be rectified?

I must have got a bum stick. Hard to light from the get go but taste started well. After about 2 minutes it started to tunnel bad. Not fixable. Even snipped and try relight. Nope, no saving it. Had to toss it out. Also the cap unraveled. RH 65, 71F. Dunno if I’ll try these again. I’ve yet to have any good Patel.

Good flavor on these, and a good looking cigar. However, on about half of them so far, the burn has been less than satisfactory. Two burned a tunnel up the middle of the cigar, which quickly made them unsmokable. Another just sort of stated collapsing sideways (not even sure what made it do that). Others were just difficult to keep from canoe-ing even with repeated corrections. The ones that burned well have been great. Just wish these were a bit more consistent on the burn.

Appearance was near perfect slightly dark smooth, draw was perfect the whole way through, the burn was almost perfect needed one touch up at the end of the second third, the aroma was appreciated by the onlookers and the taste was nice slight hay, barnyard leather cream and slight dark chocolate. The stick lasted almost 2hrs at a moderate pace taste did not vary too much from start to finish the only problem was that after cutting the rest of the cap did try to peel off I managed to fix it without to much problem and did not affect the over all experience. Went well with bourbon

I left a review for the 6x60 a few weeks ago (they wouldn't let me add another review, so I shifted to this one as I'm sure the same characteristic applies) and I must admit that after a few weeks in the humidor, I retract my statement about the cigar being "middle of the road." If you're impatient like me, you're ready to cut and light as soon as the shipment arrives and with some .. you can do that.. but not this one .. now that they've settled however in my humidor for a prolonged time, they're fantastic.. and consistent .. another classic Rocky worth having

Ok cigar but prefer others

From the second you pull this from the wrapper you know you're in for a treat. The aroma is out of this world, an easy draw, a flawless burn (I did let it sit too long once and needed a re- light) but I'm thinking without question my favorite RP. And I'm really not a fan overall. I keep trying them because my BIL is a huge cheerleader, but this is a stick I will buy again. At $10 each it won't be my every day burn, but I would highly recommend.

This was a nice cigar! The flavours of coffee, cedar and nuttiness were delicious and it had good smoke output. The burn went a little wonky and I had to touch it up a few times. But other than that, a good cigar overall.

The Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Robusto is made with a 12-year-old Honduran broadleaf wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and a Dominican Republic and Nicaraguan filler. This medium-body cigar has received a 92 rating by Cigar Aficionado, and it has been featured twice in the magazine's "Top 25 Cigars of the Year". This box-pressed smoke has a nutty, earthy, and tobacco aroma. The stick felt perfectly firm throughout its length. The pre-light draw was open and very tasty with light sweet mocha and mild nut. The first third starts out wonderfully medium in body with smooth undertones of mocha and a little earthy leather. In the second third, the body picks up slightly and the smoke remains smooth and earthy. I also get a touch of spice occasionally in the aroma but not on the palate. Nice for a cigar that is so smooth and balanced up front. In the last third, the flavors remain pretty consistent, and the pepper is hitting a little more up front when I take any more than a single puff. The core is still earthy and rich tobacco with some nutty mocha. The complexity has really picked up nicely. The strength is a solid medium/full. The draw and the burn are excellent and have a solid light gray ash. If you like medium to full-body cigars, you need to try the Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Robusto.

It is hard to quantify a ‘sampler pack’ with a single review, so my above scores reflect what I feel is an average. This sampler pack came packaged beautifully, with a Boveda pack sealed inside. However, the Boveda pack was rock solid, meaning it had been dried out for quite some time. I think the protective tubes did their job quite effectively though, because the cigars were still in relatively good shape. Overall, I would recommend these to a friend just for the sheer novelty aspect of them. Plus, cigars that come in their own tubing travel well, and what’s to stop someone from reusing those tubes?

What can I say? A go to perfect medium for me. Smooth and creamy with mild pepper. Pre-light draw is semi-sweet with a cognac in the background. I like best everything about this smoke. The smell before lighting is cognac and fresh coffee beans. Appearance is art. Beautiful reddish-brown. Personally I taste Rosada wrapper flavors. Very smooth and creamy with John st enough flavors to keep it great throughout! I love these. This is a winner. Box-worthy.

It might be a one off but the draw was super tight and required a little massage to help loosen up. Very nice notes off the light up and first third was very smooth. I'd definitely recommend all rocky patel sticks

This is Rockys bread and butter! If you haven't had a Rocky this is a great one to try. It has an easy draw from first puff to the last and I've never had any construction issues. It has a great cigar and I would highly recommend.

A fair cigar with a fuller strength than medium, in my opinion. Some burn problems in the first half. Being my first RP, I do not plan on completely judging the entire Vintage 1990 line on one smoke. I like the fact that they carried the box press into the smaller vitola.

I was very excited when our store received the assortments of the Rocky Juniors-- a small box pressed , 30 minute smoke. I decided to first try the 1990 vintage-- Maduro. ThIs cigar starts off with a somewhat bittersweet flavor, almost a smooth tangy flavor. Towards the second half espresso notes appear. The cigar ends with a long sweet finish. Overall this handmade junior had a great draw, great burn, and a good amount of smoke output. No relighting necessary and it burned cool to the end. Definitely recommended for a quick nice 30 minute smoke-- very well constructed!

Very nice chocolate appearence. Draw was light and easy. After lighting it started off very smooth with soft ceder, earthy, and slight caramel flavors. I didn't get any harsh or ashy taste. The aroma was very pleasent and slightly sweet. The second third developed a bit more body and complexity but stayed smooth. There was a touch of spice and maybe some cinnamon. Overall I would try this one again.

Even though this stick has been around since 2003 it's still causing waves among real cigar smokers. A mixture of a flawless, good looking wrapper and nice aroma makes its way to your palate; Delivering notes of mild coffee and wood flavor (cedar to be specific) at the beginning and then some spiceness in the middle to finish with sweet fruity notes. Very complex and full of flavor, you'll never get disappointed with this great honduran cigar.

prior to this stogie I was smoking with the idea of it's a great smoke if I don't taste it through the next few days, however, this one I noticed the creamy earthy smooth flavor. I really like this and it was recommended by a Facebook friend and it's going to be one of my regulars. I smoked it down to about 2" and had to relight it and it wasn't like others where it's bitter and hot. it was still very tasty and I smoked it down below ½". OMG I'm in love.

Size: 6.25" x 52 Wrapper: Honduran Broadleaf Filler: Dominican and Nicaraguan ligero Pre-light: This box-pressed cigar looks very nice with its smooth, dark brown wrapper. Pre-light aromas remind me of wet hay and earth. Construction: No burn issues at all with a moderately firm ash. The draw was tight for about half an inch in the middle portion of the cigar, otherwise it was fine. Large amounts of smoke. Tasting notes: Predominantly creamy cocoa, earth, and latte flavors. The first third had a sweet and long spicy finish. This evolved into flavors of tanned leather and latte, with a little bit of minerals and dark dried fruit. The smoke got hot earlier than usual, and while I got this one down to about an inch, I probably should have stopped earlier. Overall, this was a tasty cigar with some interesting flavors, but somewhat timid in body and dry on the palate. I'm not sure I would pay full retail for it again, but it's certainly worth a try if you've never had one before.

Nice mild, smooth cigar. Nothing too special and I did have burn issues. Very smoky cigar as well, but it's great for a regular smoke.

Really great cigar, one of my favorites I've had. Creamy smooth, excellent construction, burn was fantastic and taste was incredible. It was slighty spicy but not over the top, it had a creamy coffee flavor all the way through the entire smoke. Very nice!

A premium cigar for the budget smoker, hard to imagine a line with 12 year old tobac. that would be this cheap and flavorfull.

I had this cigar after ageing it for 3 years, it was amazing, creamy coffee and a great long finihs. RECOMEND.
