The Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Maduro was created to mark this popular premium cigar’s decade of satisfying the palates of cigar enthusiasts. It is a medium to full-bodied cigar that is hand crafted at the Tabacalera Perdomo factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. Its oily Cuban-seed Nicaraguan maduro wrapper has been carefully aged for 6 years and allowed to mellow in a bourbon barrel for an additional 10 months. The wrapper is then expertly placed over a Cuban-seed Nicaraguan binder and filler, which has been aged for 6 years. Perdomo cigars are highly regarded for their consistency and taste.

Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

This is a beautiful stick. It put out a nice aroma immediately upon lighting. The draw was great with good smoke output. The burn was impeccable requiring no touch ups. The taste was okay. I got hints of leather and subtle spice throughout the entire smoke. The flavor profile just didn’t knock my socks off. For me this cigar was on the milder side and lasted about an hour. I think this is a good cigar for the price point.

The subject cigars were quite enjoyable. However construction issues continue to plague the manufacturer. Several of the cigars had a harder than normal draw, and lacked consistency from one to another. In addition, some lost the wrapper before the smoke was finished. I give the cigar a score of 3.5

Perdomo has a well-deserved reputation for bringing the cigar world a plethora of high-quality sticks at reasonable prices, and a penchant for meticulous quality control. Because of the sheer number of offerings they have brought to the table, choosing just one to smoke is a bit like picking out a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. It may take you a little awhile to make up your mind, but no matter which one you settle on, it is bound to be good. With that being said, I am happy that I went for the 10th Anniversary Maduro. It features a dark and oily Cuban-seed wrapper that was aged for 6 years even before being placed in bourbon barrels for additional mellowing. Providing contrast to the dark wrapper is a large and shiny royal blue & gold band. While I am typically drawn toward a more simple and subtle design style, I must admit that this is a handsome cigar, and the presentation works well. While the band surely gives this stick some flash and pizzazz, the true gem here is the cigar itself. It is a box pressed cigar, but a rather soft box press, which to me is the epitome of "the best of both worlds". The draw is nearly perfect, another trait Perdomo prides themselves on. The flavor profile is incredibly pleasant as well. It is subtly sweet with spices like nutmeg and cinnamon dancing effortlessly with cocoa, leather, white pepper and earth. A faint citrus zest can also be detected if one is paying close attention. Balance is the name of the game here. This stick conducts itself like a mature and well-seasoned veteran, rather than a loud and boisterous neophyte. Even though it is not an incredibly old release, it feels like an old classic. I came away from the experience very impressed, especially when price point is taken into consideration. Try pairing with San Pellegrino, as its neutrality will allow the nuances of this stick to really shine.

This moves from peppercorn to cocoa to dirt. Perhaps I had a suboptimal cigar but mine kept going out, requiring relighting, affecting the overall taste. I do not discount the taste as I believe fault was with the burn. Despite my initial broad strokes, chocolate and cream notes often showed up. I’d love to see what a consistent burn would have brought. Despite my harshness, I am excited to try this cigar again. The experience was otherwise very satisfying. And more importantly, a complete bargain

Even though I prefer the sun grown. This is nice cigar, Perdomo in my opinion knows how to make a Maduro cigar! Get yourself a nice dinner and after a nice whiskey or bourbon (neat) and spark up one of these.

Right out of the box.. couldn’t wait when I saw how dark and inviting and overall, beautiful this cigar is. Full flavored, not for rookies! Aesthetically immaculate, roll is perfect, dry draw made me roll my eyes. Can’t much rate aroma when smoking but all other areas, profoundly great. the wrapper immediately presented a slight and enjoyable sweet twinge. I get hay, cedar, a bit of molasses and nuttiness in a perfect draw and burn. Dark bold richness is remarkable! Retro draw, bold but not overbearing.. that slight sweetness noticed on Retro. Very good cigar, highly recommend for full flavored fans. I am a little surprised with the conservative cost. Excellent cigar! I think it is in the 90 range. Will buy more!

Although a fairly good cigar, draw wasn't always good and had to relight it towards the end of my smoke. I'm a Perdomo cigar guy and I smoke Perdomo Fresco Churchhills everyday. To me their just as good, usually have a great draw and are half the price.

Good construction. It does have a decent draw. The ash stays on very well, and for sometime. The taste I got was a Earthy tobacco taste, smooth, more of a mild-medium than a medium one. Unfortunately, I didn't get any of the espresso and chocolate taste. I did notice that it had a bit more of a kick, it gave me a buzz, more than most other medium strength cigars, that I have had. It looks very good with the broad band, and impressive. Would look good at any party. I'll pick up a couple more of these in a few months. Maybe I'll pick up some of the other flavours then.

If you ever have the opportunity to visit a cigar factory, you should try and make it the Perdomo tour in Esteli, Nicaragua. There's few manufacturers that have the quality control Perdomo does. One cool thing you need to know about Perdomo is all the cigars are draw tested. I can attest to that! The Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Maduro Robusto is my latest pick, which has a beautiful blue and gold band over a dark leathery wrapper. After cutting, I found the cold draw is somewhat sweet with earthy notes, and once lit up the cigar is what we can call a 100% Nicaraguan puro! Earthy with a mix of black pepper, the retrohale is a mix of that black pepper, leather, and some dark coffee. The second part keeps those earthy notes and the leather component of the retrohale are now incorporated into the mix puff by puff, the cigar is smoking and burning amazing! The third and final part of the cigar has notes of dark coffee with some earthy notes and the retrohale is more of a mix of white pepper and dark chocolate. Overall, this was a delicious treat, and if you haven’t tried it yet, what are you waiting for?? This cigar won’t break the bank and will give you an excellent 45-60 minutes of vacation away from reality.

This cigar looked great coming out of the wrapper. The flavours were a bit less intense than I’d expected but picked up in the second third. Definite notes of chocolate and coffee with an occasional taste of dried cherries. Very fragrant with a sweetness in the smoke. Perfect construction, great draw, and an even burn. Great smoke output. This cigar has to go down as the release of the year. I cannot recall being this excited over any other Perdomo. The flavors on this cigar are great and the sticks starts with a bang and smooths out in the 2nd and 3rd. A totally enjoyable experience which lasted me over 2 hours. For my money, nobody does it better than Nick Perdomo and company, except maybe the Padrons and the Fuente team of experts. This Perdomo giant is easy to review. There are no flaws. Period. You begin with a wonderful tactile sensation of a well-balanced box-pressed churchill at just the right ring size given it's length. After toasting and firing, the stick burns razor-sharp from foot to nub. The draw is just right for my tastes, not too tight or too loose. Lots of aromatic smoke and your palate is regaled with equal amounts of taste and complexity. The maduro wrapper is flawless in appearance and nicely, naturally sweet. In sum, buy the stick. You won't be disappointed.
