Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Honduran cigar wrapper has the reputation of great quality, with wrapper leaf being grown in the Jamastran, Talanga and San Agustin valleys. Some of the wrappers being grown in Honduras include Corojo, Honduran Claro, Honduran Criollo, Honduran Jamastran Viso Rosado, Honduran San Agustin Havana Seed and San Agustin Ligero.

Habano Connecticut
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Habano Connecticut is a Cuban-seed tobacco that is grown and cultivated using traditional Cuban methods. The tobacco is grown under shade to give it a light-brown color.

Dominican Republic
Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Filler (or “tripa” in Spanish) is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar. The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

An extension by General Cigars to the Partagas 1845 line, the Partagas 1845 Extra Fuerte Gigante is a full bodied smoke that delivers a different blend of tobaccos. The Extra fuerte has an oily rich Habano Ligero wrapper and a Habano Connecticut binder. But where this cigar really stands out is its blend of four tobaccos for the filler; Dominican Piloto Cubano, Nicaraguan Gurdian, Nicaraguan Esteli, and Nicaraguan ASP. This blend of some of the finest tobaccos creates bold notes of oak, black coffee, and clove spices. From Partagas I expected far better. The 1st cigar out of the box was great - the next eight tunneled on me. Must have had an apprentice roller on the job - I threw the rest away.

When I was toasting the cigar, the aroma I got was a BBQ pit, the cigar started off with a blast of spice and when I retro haled it, I got leather notes rolling off the tongue. The spice did tone down a bit by the end of the first third, but the other note I noticed was a maple-like sweetness. The cigar’s flavors in the second third changed slightly to a leather, sugary sweetness, and funny enough, I got notes of grilled meat with a slight surprise of a creamy finish. For the final third, the cigar stayed a medium to full body. The flavors really didn't change a whole lot in the final third with the exception of some bits of cinnamon thrown around it. From the start, it looked like it was going to be a full bodied cigar, but it mellowed out and turned out to a medium to full bodied cigar.

Sour taste...Cigar is rolled super-tight....too tight to smoke...wrapper is so thin and flimsy it disintegrates at the touch..."easy" return process is proving to be a nightmare...this could be my last box from Neptune...

I actually noted that the cigar had a different aroma than the standard tobacco. The wife picked up that it was cedar. I did not notice flavors on a cold draw, but the cigar was awesome with a very slight sweetness and cedar. I ordered 3 to try. This one was the first while on a walk. The other 2 should be even better.

Pretty good. I still prefer the Partagas Black over this, no question on that, but still good. Burns a little fast though, and not as strong as expected, but compared to the other sticks out there, pretty good.

I have tried most of the Partagas cigars except this Extra Fuerte. Very very good cigar with a full flavor and carachter, my preference! Immaculate construction, rolled perfectly, great draw, no real labor to get a bounty of smoke, no relight necessary at all. Excellent flavorful cigar in the 89 to 90 area. Highly recommend to full flavor fans!

Beautiful wrapper and label. Almost don't want to smoke it it looks so good. A dense cigar with a lot of spice and flavor, with a exquisite smoke. A bit more spice than I was expecting but it's Partagas so I suppose it is normal. I smoked this one soon after getting it, but would probably age them awhile next time if I bought more.

This is a big smoke (obviously), which means that the poor draw it has becomes a chore after a while. It has a nice flavor which was milder than I expected. With good draw this is a very nice cigar.
