Oliva Serie G cigars is one of the few cigar manufacturers today that despite obtaining the highest ratings on their cigars continues to create fairly priced cigars with an excellent quality. In other words, you will not find an overpriced Oliva Serie G cigar. Oliva Serie G is a medium body blend made with authentic African-Cameroon wrapper with notes of cedar and coffee. The unique flavor notes of this wrapper are complimented by the natural richness of Nicaraguan Habano fillers, creating a toasty and sweet cigar that is also creamy and a bit spicy.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Colorado maduro wrapper is milk chocolate brown.
Wrapper
Cameroon
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Cameroon wrappers are grown in the East part of the country. The growing area spreads over the eastern border, into the Central African Republic. Wrappers are air grown, without fertilizers and pesticides, by small farmers. The average plantation size is about one acre. The seed is originally from Sumatra, introduced in the country just after WWII.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Oliva Cigar Company is Nicaragua's second largest grower of tobacco and one of the largest cigarmakers in the world. It all started in 1886 when Melanio Oliva first grew tobacco in Cuba. In 1995, his grandson Gilberto Oliva would launch the Oliva cigar brand, produced in Esteli, Nicaragua. The company's flagship brand, Oliva Serie V, has obtained some of the highest ratings in cigar publications worldwide. Their cigars use mostly tobacco harvested by the company in their various farms in Nicaragua.

NeptuneCigar.com Aside from the shape it gives, the box pressed cigar is known to burn more even and longer than the regular round sectioned cigars. Some smokers feel that the box pressed shape adapts to the mouth better. With the compressed tobacco in a box pressed cigar, you may experience a fuller flavored smoke. Some smokers enjoy this, others may not as it is a personal preference.

I just needed a box of sticks that was budget friendly and a brand I knew would deliver a decent smoke. I really hate the box press look. It visually looks like a cigar that’s made like cheese it’s or potato chips. But I know it’s not. Just not a fan I guess. Flavors are simple and the final third is a pepper bomb! If you’re not up for that towards the end of a cigar experience, maybe this isn’t for you.

I usually love Oliva cigars, but this is my first box of the G series and they are unimpressive. Definitely a more mild cigar. The first third has been very bitter from the few I’ve tried and I haven’t finished one yet. Not sure if the need to sit in the humi a while or if I received a bad box, but doubt I’ll order another.

Bought this mainly as a gift and for myself for a included cigar cutter. DO NOT BUY THIS FOR THE CUTTER! It's worthly and the biggest p.o.c. cutter! Both were faulty. One was not even welded together properly from the factory and the other barley opens and operates well. Stick with a $6 plastic is better than this utter garbage. P.s. the cigars are fine smokers.

As others have mentioned, this is loose rolled. Many box-pressed cigars are and is also why they usually have a lighter draw. Personally I prefer box-pressed. Thus one had a bit tighter draw but due to smaller cap. The burn was fine as well as the burn rate. For the price it’s a fine cigar. My RH was 63% and 72F. With many other Oliva to choose I probably won’t get any more of these though.

This is an excellent cigar for the price, a great value. These are mild have a nice flavor and taste, though on occasion you can unwrap one that does not draw that well, burns unevenly and has poor construction. That would be the exception, however. All in all, a great cigar for the money.

Smoking it at about 67ish RH. Pre-light- Nice musty tobacco walk in humidor smell. First light- Really nice mild spiciness, maybe cedar and spice? Smooth, mellow. Really nice humidor mustiness on the draw, slightly musty aftertaste. Clean, medium finish. Nice draw, nice burn, nice toasty-ness on the retro. Nice sweetness coming up. Really nice sweet woody flavor coming up. Its a sweet cedar flavor similar to natural cedar incense. The mustiness and sweet cedar still dominant flavors well into first third. Maybe a slight mild spice in the background, maybe pepper? Flawless burn. Nice creaminess. In the back half the cedar slowly drops the sweetness and starts to pair with a medium pepper. Still has a creaminess. The musty-ness is still there but slightly heavier, woody aftertaste now. Still perfect burn. Finishes with a deeper woody pepper. Strength feels like a medium, slight nicotine buzz, not too strong though. Very nice cigar.

The Oliva Serie G Churchill isn't the first cigar that comes to mind when thinking about the prestigious Oliva Brand. Lately I've been in a Cameroon wrapper mood so I decided to give it a smoke. This Cigar contains an Authentic African Cameroon wrapper with Nicaraguan long fillers as well as a Cuban-seed Habano Nicaraguan binder. On pre-light I get notes of almonds and cocoa with a hint of pepper. After lighting the cigar, the first third contains notes of espresso, dark chocolate, and leather. Moving into the second third, the cigar transitions to more peppery, wood and cocoa, as the leather notes linger. As the cigar nears the last third it gets a lot sweeter with the notes of chocolate coming back strong along with espresso and leather. This is by far one of my favorite Cameroon-wrapped cigars, an absolute gem for the price. Definitely a mild cigar that would pair great with a morning coffee.

Excellent burn and construction, beautiful looking cigar. Got a lot of leather notes in the first to second third, as well as dark chocolate and espresso. The cigar got sweeter towards the final third, was getting more milk chocolate and espresso notes. Great smoke output, and creamy texture. I really enjoyed this! Great value!

I have yet to try the churchill or double robusto in this line, but so far I like this one the most along with the toro. The initial flavors are very similar to other vitolas, but it ramps up in body in the final third, adding some spice and more depth to the wood notes. For the price, you can't beat the flavor, presentation, and smoke time.

Without hyperbole, I rank Oliva Serie G as the best Cameroon wrapped cigar on the market, period. I think a Cameroon wrap should hold a nice balance between sun grown/habano and maduro, and this stick is a perfect example of such. Avoid. At first light up it shot a 3in flame out the end. I looked at the end and there was a hole about 1/8in in diameter. That ended up extending through the entire cigar to at least the halfway point. It also burned unevenly. I had this cigar around the end of Nov. Who knows how many cigars this worker made. I won't get this again or an Oliva for a long time.

Wow, these things were so dry when I got them, they felt hollow, I'll be letting them sit in a ziplock with a Boveda for a month or two to see if they come back to life. First third - Starts out with wood and nut with a bitter finish. After a few puffs, the bitterness subsided and gives way to a nice chocolaty flavour. Medium strength. Wavy burn. Second third - lots of wood and nut. Chocolaty finish turns into a dry cocoa powder. A burn hole developed behind the burn line and turned into a lob sided burn. Medium strength. Final third - same as the 2nd. Burn evened out. Medium strength. A part from the burn problem, for the price this is a nice stick to have a 5 pack on hand.

Smoked about a quarter of a box of these. Draw is pretty tight, 2 were unsmokable - I had to use a skewer to draw poke em. The wrappers on these also look awful. Some patches of molting were black and dark brown, on a normal cameroon wrapper? Just looks almost diseased. Not a good image for a wrapper. They taste good and the aroma is nice, if these were $75 bucks abox I'd have no complaints, but seriously Olivas 2nds lines are better quality than these considering the bad draws and ugly appearance.

Absolutely fantastic cigar, especially considering the price point. Super smooth, creamy, tons of flavor. Excellent construction - flawless burn & draw on all of these that I've smoked, including other sizes. If I had a complaint I'd say I find they burn a little fast. I get an hour or so out of a toro if I smoke normally, which is short for me. The flavors are dessert-like and I love it in the morning with a coffee with some cream and sugar.

There are some consistency issues across this sampler. The best performer was the Connecticut. They all had fairly decent flavor, but burn and draw wasn’t consistent throughout. That’s why a sampler is a good value. You learn a lot. Oliva’s are good I’ll try a similar sampler in robusto next time. I’m a torpedo fan. I feel it a shape that can go a long way in maximizing flavor or expressing shortcomings in a cigar.

Just what you expect from Oliva is quality. I really like figurados and this one being boxed pressed looks amazing. The first 1/4 did not have the flavour I was expecting but this was right out of the shipping box with no humi time on it. The second 1/4 opened into nice earthy leather with lots of smoke and a nice solid white ash. The burn got off a bit but not enough to relight or touch it up. On the third 1/4 the flavours kept getting more intense with hints of chocolate and barn leather as well. Ended up smoking it right down to the nub it was so good. Nice long lasting flavourful cigar like a lot of the oliva lines are. Well done!

Ok I admit it, I'm a cigar snob. I have a selective selection of Cuban and non Cuban cigars in my humidor that I love smoking and tend not to deviate too much. Having said that the Oliva Serie V, in my opinion, is one of the best non Cuban cigars out there. With this is mind I decided to go out of my comfort zone and try the Oliva four pack sampler. Packaging: simply first class. Neptune Cigars did an awesome job ensuring my cigars arrived undamaged and as fresh as possible; Thank You! Oliva Serie G: first of all its allergy season where I'm from, and I'm suffering from its effects, which perhaps may have altered my taste buds. Appearance wise the Serie G looked great. A beautiful dark wrapper with very little veins. Taste wise this is definitely a mild-medium body cigar. I found the taste stayed consistent throughout the entire smoke. The cigar had a good ash and even burn. I was deeply impressed that it didn't require any touch ups considering I was golfing on a windy day. Overall impression: I found the taste very one dimensional; just average from start to finish until it got bitter as I approached the nub; nothing spectacular. My rating of this cigar: 2 stars. Oliva Serie O: a much better smoke compared to the Serie G. I was initially disappointed that the ash didn't hold like many good cigars, namely falling off around the three quarters of an inch mark. After about ten minutes into the smoke this cigar gives off an incredible aroma which is very pleasing. About the half way mark the smoke gets thicker and left very good after taste in my palate. One big draw back to this cigar is that it required constant touch ups. More so as I got closer to the band. As I like to smoke my cigars down to the nub, the constant touch ups just left a bitter taste in my mouth, and it was time to retire this cigar. Overall, a decent smoke with a good price point making this a decent-good cigar for every day occasions. My rating for this cigar: 3 stars. O

While s Hugh Oliva fan, these cigars simple are a PASS for me.. Burns hot and dosent give a chance for flavor palate to develop... While intended to be a quick smoke, this size/shape does no justice to Oliva series G line of cigars... Move on to the larger sized Oliva G cigars

Figurado adds an extra bonus element of class the the otherwise underdog Series G which should get far higher reviews as it smokes much, much better them cigars double it's price. This is a delightful little cigar with big flavor! From beginning to end, it produced rich flavors of hay and hazelnuts with just a touch of spiciness as you approach the nub. The draw was on the firm side, but the burn was flawless. Don't expect any strength from this cigar, but do expect to burn your fingers because you're not going to want to put it down. This is, easily, a cigar that deserves a box purchase. Pairing notes: Try putting this cigar next to a glass of your favorite Pinot Grigio.

OK. I admit it. I have become a huge fan of the Oliva brand. This little gem is the bomb. Got one in a sampler Neptune/Oliva provided. Bought a five pack after that and now a box. I have tried the Series "V", "O", and now the "G"'s. Within those series there is something that will appeal to everyone. I have all three series in my rotation now and depending what I have a taste for - or time for - one will certainly fit the bill

What a value! A beautiful cigar for a reasonable price. If I could give this one three more stars for appearance, I would. The draw felt a little too tight at first, so I cut it a little deeper and then it was perfect. I love the shape, box pressed, easy to light and nice to hold. The flavor was rich, smooth and consistent right down to closing time. Overall, an outstanding cigar. A box of these is going on my Christmas list, Neptune (hint hint).
