Since its introduction in 2012, the Montecristo Epic has dazzled the palates of cigar aficionados everywhere. This full-bodied masterpiece of complexity is made with premium vintage tobaccos from 2007, featuring an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper on top of a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The result is an exquisite bouquet of flavor that can only be expected from one of the world's most recognized and revered cigar manufacturers.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Ecuadorian Habano
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuadorian Habano wrapper has become one of the most used cigar wrappers in the market. Grown primarily by the Oliva family, this tobacco originated from Habano or H2000 seeds brought to Ecuador from Cuba. This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Dominican Republic
Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Filler (or “tripa” in Spanish) is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar. The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

Not what I would expect from a $15 cigar. Cigar was very dense/heavy for its size, which I usually prefer, although sometimes suggests potential draw issues. In this case, the draw was extremely tight all the way down, and as a consequence smoke production was week throughout, requiring 2-3 long draws to get any smoke at all. Aroma was fine, nothing special...ditto the taste. Uneven burn throughout required multiple relights. Not to be too nit picky here, but the bands were also applied unevenly. Means very little, but considering the other obvious construction problems, that didn’t help.

I am not normally a fan of this size as I trend towards more Robusto or Corona type sizes. But I am very glad I tried this out. Nutty profile to the flavor with some oak/spice and cocoa. Very complex and full flavored but not harsh or in your face strong. One of the best Montecristo cigars I have had, its right up there with the original Espada for me.

Absolutely fantastic cigar and pleasure to the palate. It's smooth, perfectly balanced with notes of cacao and slight woodiness, medium to medium full thick and creamy smoke with a short finish and tight white ash. While the burn is not perfect, it could be the result of an imperfect humidor. No touchups required. Highly recommend pairing with top notch Armagnac and enjoy your perfect evening!

This is a damn good cigar and what you would expect out of brand of this caliber. Much better than the Monte series. Just a good tasting cigar. Not sure I can justify spending almost 14 dollars for it but everything about it is outstanding.

I am new to Cigars & have about a year into it. The Epic no. 2 was one of my first quality cigars and it had a lasting impact. The construction, draw and appearance are excellent and easily meet expectations for a cigar in this price range. The flavor is for sure what hooked me on these. A somewhat sweet and creamy taste is distinct throughout while a multiple of spices & mild earthy flavors can be noticed at different stages. I have smoked the Habano version and while it was quite good, I prefer this one. I have heard folks complain that the cigar is overpriced, but I would disagree - I have smoked quite a few higher end cigars and can tell you that I have often paid more than this for less of a smoke.
