Ligero Cabinet Oscuro is made with the darkest richest Ecuadorian Sumatra wrappers you will ever smoke, almost Maduro but not quite... Litto Gomez calls it Oscuro. The filler and binder are grown in La Flor Dominicana's farm in La Canela, Dominican Republic.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

Ecuadorian Sumatra-Seed
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type wrappers to many cigar factory in the world.

Dominican Republic
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Filler (or “tripa” in Spanish) is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar. The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

Ray two weeks ago a friend bought La Flor Dominicana Ligero Cabinet 8 at cigar store in TN & gave it to me, but can;t find Cab8 here.

This is an interesting smoke. Starts off with some cocoa, wood and minimal spice. Stays pretty smooth throughout the experience and gains a little spice in the last third. Perfect burn but tight draw which took a couple cuts to get it right. Wouldn't mind keeping a few of these in the humidor.

In appearance, this is one gorgeous cigar. The oily, almost black wrapper, combined with the handsome black and burgundy band make this one of the best looking cigars I've smoked. The flavor lives up to its appearance, begin full-bodied without being overly powerful or unbalanced. The strength increased a bit as it neared the nub. The burn was good, only needing a few touch-ups to keep it even.

It is slightly stronger than the typical Dominican cigar. The flaver is great. It gets stronger from 2/3 point. I slowly smoked for about two and a half hours. It's a double robusto size cigar, but I enjoyed it without any burden. Nicotine punch is here at the end.

I acclimated these sticks for three week before I smoked the "Air Bender". Immediately upon lighting the wrapper started cracking. The cracking continued down the cigar during the entire smoke. That said the cracking did not lead to poor draw. Probably would not order again because of the cracking. We'll see how the others in this sampler pack perform.

I bought a box of these and have smoked six so far, not a huge fan. Everyone has burned uneven or the wrapper does not burn or they split/crack on the end. This also detracts from the appearance, otherwise this would be a good stick. Taste and smell are awesome, I use a cat's eye cutter and have no issue with the draw. Probably will not buy another box of these...

I'm a big fan of LFDs. These are a sheeny, oily beauty. They literally get oil on your fingers. It' almost like eating fried chicken. With a nice heft in the hand and perfect draw, it is a pleasure to look at but even better to light up. On the aroma, the first hit is a little of red pepper flakes and creamy brown butter sauce. Halfway thru and the burn is staying even. Later in the smoke some toasted honey showed up.

BIG cigar for sure, big gauge, big smoke big flavor. Really enjoyed these. Only criticism is the early draw was tight, it loosened up about 1/4 of the way. LFD makes great cigars and this one is that. Enjoyed these right outa the box.

I bought a box of these a few years ago when I took up cigars. At the time I thought that these were the ultimate pleasure because they are not cheap! Over time when I’d go into my humi for the evenings smoke, I bypassed them for something else even though I really like the Perfecto format. So there they sat for months lonely and forgotten. I’d always pack one on vacations, but I never seem to choose them and return them to my humi when I got home. Tonight, being too lazy to return them to the humidor I opted to smoke it. What a treat! Now I remember why I invested in some of these. Everything about them is excellent and the best example of a fine Dominican. These will always be in my collection and shared only with the best of friends with the best bourbon that they provide.

What's not to like about this bold powerful smoke? Maybe add a little Port or a single malt to round out your evening. I am aging them longer to slow down the burn as they are a little fast right out of the box. Everything you could wish for if you are serious about strong smokes, but still enjoyable for the medium bodied aficionado as well.

This cigar was a let down .the draw was bad meaning it was rolled to tight and it burned very inconsistent found my self relighting it to many times. The wrapper seemed not to burn along with the binder

From a superficial standpoint, it doesn't get much more impressive than this baby. Tapered off on both ends with a Connecticut wrapper, the bulk of this cigar is sporting one of the oiliest maduro wrappers I've ever laid eyes on. After the very first puff, I instantly noticed a pronounced chocolaty note, paired nicely with the signature spice LFD has become famous for. The draw left much to be desired at first, but after about an inch or two it opened up and I had no further complaints after that. The taste remained largely consistent throughout, and that is certainly not a bad thing. If I had to rate the strength on a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 7 for the first third, and up it to an 8 for the remainder. All in all, a high quality, premium cigar worthy of showing off.
