High quality Cameroon wrapper leaf has become scarce in recent years due to poor climate. Altadis has been storing high grade Cameroon wrapper for many years, and this now aged high grade Cameroon tobacco is the vintage wrapper they use for their H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon cigars. The fillers and binder are Nicaraguan and Peruvian tobaccos. Rated 92 (Outstanding) by Cigar Aficionado.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Natural wrapper, also known as Colorado Claro, is light brown in color.
Wrapper
Cameroon
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Cameroon wrappers are grown in the East part of the country. The growing area spreads over the eastern border, into the Central African Republic. Wrappers are air grown, without fertilizers and pesticides, by small farmers. The average plantation size is about one acre. The seed is originally from Sumatra, introduced in the country just after WWII.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Filler (or “tripa” in Spanish) is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar. The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

The draw was good and flavors were great, just very disappointed in the burn. Wouldn’t stay lit and a very uneven burn on the wrapper. After endless tries I had to call it quits about halfway through. Certainly would be willing to try it again, but will likely wait for the frustration to pass

Ordered a box these because I've had them as singles before and loved them and would have given them 5 stars all across the board if it weren't for the fact that most of them so far have fallen apart upon lighting with splitting wrappers, inconsistent burn, poor construction and ash and as a result poor taste. Having to toss them as it's not worth smoking a bad cigar. Not sure what's up with these; they've been stored properly in a controlled humidor. Very disappointing to say the least. Not sure whether it's just poor construction and/or poor handling.

Off the the Cameroon races with a Upmann Vintage Cameroon… This is the 52 x 5” Robusto which is beautifully made, draws perfectly and run $6.25 from Neptune. This is a very mild cigar but packs a ton of flavor. Classic Cameroon notes of roasted nuts, spice and chocolate. Those new to cigars would really enjoy this as a very easy smoke to enjoy, at the same time a very solid smoke for those looking for something a bit different. Clearly a very solid value…. Offers a good cross section of choices with varying flavors and strengths. Decent but not my favorite Cameroon. Slightly sweet up front. Medium bodied, creamy first 1/3. Second 1/3 picked up some more woodiness and spiciness, especially on the retrohale. Even got some pepper and on one bit some pepperskin (almost like jalapeno). Final third was mostly the same as the second third. Flavors felt muted compared to a different Cameroon I had smoked just days prior. Perhaps this influenced my rating a bit. Not quite as sweet, mild or frankly, flavorful as other examples out there.

Great cigar for the price point. Excellent aroma, burn and draw. The cedar wrapper gives it that extra touch. Although not an overly complex cigar you can taste the cedar (duh), some spice with bits of hay and cocoa. Overall a very steady medium smoke.

Very attractive looking cigar. Burn was good. The draw was tight. Very nice aroma and taste. Started slightly spicy but the more you smoked the more cedar you taste. Very smooth in the 2rd and 3rd. Very nice sweet taste on tongue.

Back in the day H Upmann was one of those that you smoked regularly and never found disappointing. This particular stick brings back those memories in a straightforward and timeless manner. The pre smoke presentation is a handsome one, albeit the construction is not all that tight in the hand. One finds loads of mild to medium spice and, not surprisingly, cedar throughout. There is this billowy and marshmallowy aspect that seems to cradle the afore mentioned notes ever so gently. The burn is just exquisite on this cigar. I usually enjoy my cigars with a port or single malt scotch that has been finished in a sherry cask. This one I had a Sol cerveza with a lime as the accompaniment and it was the perfect symbiotic pairing. This cigar is not only a great value but also terribly underrated. I give it a 93.

This cigar is dressed up with a thin layer of Cedar paper wrapped around the cigar... the appearance is definitely there..the draw was very good..the burn was okay.. the aroma was nice.. but let me tell you about the taste..it will knock your socks off.. definitely has got to be one of the best cigars I have never smoked in my life..guaranteed one of my top 5 cigars of all time...try it an you will agree.. this is a cigar that after you finish smoking..it leaves a nice sweetness of taste in your mouth.. you kind of feel a bit disappointed because you want another

This cigar tasted fantastic. I nice cedar flavor throughout with a bit of spice in the 2nd and 3rd thirds. It did burn a bit uneven and had to be relit a few times.

Great tasting cigar. Had a problem with the first one or two, won't keep a even burn. Had to re light a few times and the draw was hard. I think it was the cigars need to sit in the humidor for a week or two to get seasoned. I will try them again, in a few weeks.

I was visiting a friend in Miami and while we were sharing cigars and conversation at his home, he mentioned that years ago, Cameroon tobaccos were considered some of the finest, but they had fallen out of fashion, or perhaps the political situation had caused them to no longer be widely available. So, imagine my surprise, visiting the Neptune shop, when I found this cigar. I had to try it. My experimental purchase was rewarded more than I had hoped. This is an outstanding cigar! It starts a bit spicy then settles into a smooth, full flavor that extends to the very end. It's mild (moreso than my usual favorites), but I almost burnt my fingertips wanting to get every ounce of its sweet taste. I've added it to my "exceptional" list and, in my next online order, will be adding a bunch for my "A-list" humidor -- to share with other friends! Delightful!

Got this cigar as part of a sampler. The aroma of the cigar prior to lighting was somewhat sharp, and not that appealing. However, once lit, the cigar was a decent smoke. A medium body, and stayed consistent all the way through. Still, there's better out there for similar price.
