The story behind H. Upmann The Banker starts in 1844, when the creators of the H. Upmann brand, both German bankers, crafted a unique cigar to give as gifts to their VIP clients. In 2014, Altadis tries to recreate the original blend using an Ecuador Havana wrapper, a Nicaraguan Jalapa binder, and Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers that have been carefully aged. H. Upmann The Banker is medium bodied with robust coffee and spice notes.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Ecuadorian Habano
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuadorian Habano wrapper has become one of the most used cigar wrappers in the market. Grown primarily by the Oliva family, this tobacco originated from Habano or H2000 seeds brought to Ecuador from Cuba. This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Dominican Republic
Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Filler (or “tripa” in Spanish) is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar. The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

The draw is so bad on this that even when I use a perfect draw to try to take the knots out the perfect draw tool cannot get through the knots cuz they're so tight. That's the biggest issue with these sticks. Flavors average aromas average the burn isn't optimal because the draw is horrendous. The box and presentation, and the look of the cigar is very pretty.

This will be the third time I've had this sampler and its become a tradition to order it every holiday season. Both times I was pleased with 8 and only mildly disappointed with 1. Offers a good cross section of choices with varying flavors and strengths. My personal favs are the Monte and the Banker but there is something in this sampler for everyone. first time ordering it from Neptune and got it fast with no issues at all.

Last month I purchased a toro sized Banker at a golf course; nice cigar! I decided to order a box of Arbitrage as I prefer a larger sized stick. Great pick;great cigar.In my group we call this a "Big Boy Cigar"..big in every way and that's a good thing! Not an every day smoke for me, rather a Treat when relaxation and an hour and a half available. Very high quality construction as well.

This is my go to sampler. I have never been disatisfied with this one. The cigars are always fresh and ready to smoke. Smooth dry draw with no binding, wrapper is smooth and there is a nice aroma, easy lighting with smooth burn. I have yet to have to fix a crooked burn. It is a must try.

Good stick but the flavour doesn't fit my taste profile. The burn is good nutty very grassy flavour, powerful and hint of pepper thought out the whole journey. I will prefer the cuban stick rather than this blend.

I would compare this cigar to the smoothness of a Dunhill. If you're a fan of the Dunhill Aged series, you'll definitely love this cigar. It's a smooth, very mellow but tasty offering.

For all of its good features this turned out to be a disappointing cigar. Do to no fault at all of Neptune, this thing just about came apart once my coworkers an I removed the sleeve from them. We tried to smoke them but it did not workout for us. There will always some bad things in every bunch, just happen to get them. I have had the Upmann before and truly enjoyed them.

The H. Upmann The Banker was released 2 years ago but somehow I didn't pay attention to this cigar and only tried it this past week. The wrapper is a beautiful medium brown Ecuadorian Habano and the cigar's fillers are Nicaraguan and Dominican. A spicy and aromatic Nicaraguan Jalapa binder is used which also gives this cigar an incredible burn. The cigar looks very important as it is wrapped in a sheet that looks like a bank note. Removing the sleeve was a little tricky. As soon as you light this cigar you get spice and earthy tobacco flavor. After smoking about an inch, something wonderful happens and the flavors just open up to where you are tasting chocolate, leather, and spice. The cigar feels like a solid medium body to me, and it is certainly one that smokers of medium to full bodied cigars will enjoy. All in all a great smoking experience at a very reasonable price.

This is a pretty nice cigar, very nice consistent flavours from it, never harsh, but poorly constructed: I've had two and the wrappers were uneven in places, and whilst smoking required numerous touch ups. That being said, the positives outweigh the negatives on this one.Would definitely purchase it again.
