Cuesta Rey has been a world famous brand for more than 200 years. The Cuesta Rey Centro Fino is made today by the A. Fuente family with rich Sumatra-seed Sungrown wrapper. This wrapper is grown in Ecuador and hand selected from the "Centro Fino" or "fine center" part of the tobacco plant. The blend is a hearty aged ligero that deliciously balances the wrapper, and the cigars are aged in cedar cabinets after rolling. With Centro Fino you will enjoy a smooth, very flavorful, medium to full bodied premium cigar.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type wrappers to many cigar factory in the world.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

This is my new favorite every day cigar. I love sun grown wrappers and these are about as good as they come. I've had 4 or 5 boxes now and they have all been very consistent. The burn is very even, great taste, aroma. Nothing to complain about and they are about as affordable as a high quality cigar can get.

DECENT LITTLE SMOKE for the price. don't expect it to knock your socks off and you'll be pleasantly surprised. this stick has been around FOREVER and that says something. not a fancy shmancy hyped up botique cigar but a tried and tested everymans cigar that can easily be a daily smoker for some. light cedar and grassy aroma on the nose and some light white pepper on the retro hale. natural tobacco sweetness. this is your grandpas smoke

Cuesta Rey Centro Fino Sungrown is one of the finest cigars I have ever smoked. It is very consistent with a perfect draw and burn. It has a great woodsy/cedar taste that is smooth and never harsh. The aroma is very pleasant. I would recommend this cigar for everyone to try. Just a great cigar at a great price.

I haven't had one of these in some time. I enjoy them more now than I recall. They are very good smokes with the flavor profile and quality you expect from an AF cigar, and the price through Neptune makes them a great deal.

The cigars are inconsistently manufactured. Some are far too tight to draw comfortably, while others are just okay. The wrapper is much darker than its picture, almost a maduro. I expected a richer taste. Disappointing.

When I was a kid I remember taking trips to Ybor City and seeing the logo for Cuesta-Rey all over the place, so naturally I couldn't wait to try one of their sticks! The brand itself is very old, born in the 1880's after a gentleman named Cuesta learned the cigar trade in Cuba and decided to make cigars in Tampa. The cigar itself is quite a unique torpedo shape with a rather smooth light brown wrapper. Initially I can smell what can only be described as an almost floral like aroma before lighting. The cigar starts out very smooth and I taste a little bit of cinnamon and cedar. I would have to characterize the cigar as rather mild during the first half. Once I reached the middle of this smoke the other flavors subside and I notice a small amount of black pepper but not at all harsh or overpowering. By the end the cigar is firmly in medium bodied territory with the light spice being the main flavor. I would really like to say that this stick is definitely a good introduction to experience the taste of a sungrown wrapper, so give one of these a try.

Totally agree with the previous review by Samuel L. this is definitely an under rated cigar. For the price point you can't go wrong. The sungrown wrapper gives it a great taste but got a little bitter on the final third. This cigar has a rich history and story being associated with JC Newman and the Fuentes. If you're into the history of cigars there's a great review onYou Tube: Dr. Joe Show on this cigar. For the budget conscious smoker this is a great choice or for your next buddy's golf trip.

Great underestimated cigar. Well balanced good draw, notes of coffee, earthy and a little leathery. The sungrown wrapper give it that flavorful and tasty smoke that many cigars smokers looks.
