The Arturo Fuente Gran AniverXario Destino al Siglo is one of the most exclusive Fuente cigars ever made. It was made to celebrate the 100 years of the Arturo Fuente cigar brand in 2012 (Siglo means century in Spanish). However, a fire in the Fuente factory in 2011 delayed the release of these cigars until the end of 2013. Don Arturo Destino Al Siglo, as the brand is also known, has a beautiful double band with the picture of the brand's founder, Don Arturo. The boxes of 10 look like books and the cigars are medium to full bodied with Habano-seed Dominican Sun Grown wrappers.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.

Dominican Republic
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Filler (or “tripa” in Spanish) is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar. The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

This is a beautiful looking cigar. I've smoked a few of them and they can be extremely oily. Out of the cellophane the aroma is straight up barnyard which mellows out with a little age. Overall, it has the distinct flavor profile that is found in many of the rarer Fuente cigars with a couple nuances of it's own. It is balanced, complex and delicious.

I have been wanting to try this range for 2 years but I could never get my hands on them. I got this and was well happy with my purchase, even though I could get a box of decent sticks for the price of 4 of these on the very website!! But one does not buy these because they represent particularly good value for money. It is like buying a bottle of fine vintage port. You buy for the experience. Because life is far too short NOT to treat numero uno sometimes. I want to try every great cigar I can. Check.

Another Fuente home run! As others have mentioned, the stick is pricey but worth every dollar! Smooth throughout with the usual Opus X kicker. This cigar lasted me nearly an hour and a half and burned evenly to the end. My sons and I save these for special occasions and for those who can appreciate a high end cigar. They are rare, so stock up when you can!

There isn't anything about this cigar that isn't sensational. A cold smoke prior to lighting is unbelievable. There is a distinct taste of apple on the palate. which continues and nuances of cocoa mocha. This cigar is not for the faint of heart, it is full body, smooth and packs a punch.

Well... difficult to understand other review. Smoke just one, it was aged two months after received from Neptune, but not good, even worse the Robusto I reviewed last week. I am a Fuente aficionado, and Opus X afficionado, but that precise stick didn't gave me any pleasure. No aromas at all except wood. Maybe I got bad batch, but if so Fuente should have done better QC . Maybe not aged enough to be on time with the 100 anniversary, but there is many Fuente vitolas who form Fuente not supposed to be aged that are much better than this one. Unfortunately, a marketed cigar launched on the market too quickly. I recommand to stick to classical Opus X line who don't carry any bad surprises

I don't agree with Scott point of view. Even I smoked just one stick of these, I had smoke before a similar stick bought from Neptune under the name Opus X Destino with a band written "destino al siglo" under the Opus X band. I would hope it is a defective isolated stick but I don't think so. Compared to classical Opux line this vitola is very disappointing regarding aroma complexity. I think even the excellent Rosado Sungrown have more aroma. Definitly don't worth the classical Opux X robusto and not worth the price. Just Worth the Fuenta $11 MSRP, that none of Fuente resellers apply because of rarity of this line. I have also in my humidor the 6.1/4 x 46 stick that I will review soon. I buy regularly Opus X robustos but I won't buy this one again, I still have 3 sticks in this size that I will age two years hoping improvement.

Smoked all 4 before writing this review. An Opus X with a sun grown wrapper. All were very nice cigars with consistency of blending across all four vitols. Med - Full body. Packed with a variety of flavors which evolved substantially from first flame. Last quarter became a bit challenging to keep burning evenly. I did want to smoke it until my lips burned so that may be the root of this issue. Very nice cigar! Love the high-end Fuente's but what's not to like. They are masters of their craft.
