Factory Throwouts are inexpensive smokes made in Tampa, Florida with aged Dominican fillers and Ecuadorian Sungrown wrapper which is slightly off color. The tobacco used is leftover tobacco from production of Arturo Fuente cigars. They are an extraordinary value.
The Robusto is a short Churchill size, traditionally 5 to 5.5 inches by a 50 ring gauge.
This cigar is 5"1/2 inches long, or 139.7 mm.
Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Production of cigars in the United States, once a thriving industry, is now mainly machine made cigars. They are still being produced in the last remaining cigar factory from the 1890s, the JC Newman Cigar factory in Tampa. However, in recent years boutique brands have flourished and are being handmade by select rollers in Miami, Florida.
Cigar Ring Gauge
The cigar ring gauge corresponds to the diameter of a cigar, this cigar has a ring gauge of 49, so his diameter is 49/64 inches or 19.56 mm.
Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Natural wrapper, also known as Colorado Claro, is light brown in color.
Machine-made cigars may be completely assembled by machine, or they may be bunched by machine but the wrapper is placed on the cigar by hand.
J.C. Newman Cigar Co.
Established in 1895, J.C. Newman Cigar Co. is America's oldest family-owned company making premium cigars, which include the cigars they make at the last operating cigar factory in Ybor City, Florida, and their popular Brick House cigars made in their factory in Nicaragua.
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Sungrown cigar wrappers come from tobacco plants that are grown directly under the sun without the use of man made tents to give shade as in Shade grown wrappers. As opposed to the Shade grown plants, sun grown tobacco plants grown thicker leaves with thicker veins and darker color. Sungrown wrappers can be appreciated for their rich taste and sweet undertones.
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Like them very much. The improvement if any would be in the draw
This is a cheap easy smoke that is surprisingly enjoyable. Sweet on the lips and on the wallet. I keep a bundle of these on hand to "throw out" to all my friends.
