Aging Room Quattro F55
Aging Room Quattro F55 has been blended by Jochi Blanco of Tabacalera La Palma in the Dominican Republic and distributed by brand owner Rafael Nodal of Boutique Blends Cigars. The Aging Room Quattro's most unique characteristic comes from its Sumatra seed wrapper leaf grown in Indonesia. These wrapper leaves had been aging in a tobacco warehouse for many years as no one knew what to do with them. Thankfully for us, the Aging Room visionaries knew. They have created a balanced, elegant smoke that has earned the greatest accolades of the industry in 2013, earning that coveted #2 spot in Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 countdown of the year.
The standard Toro shape is 6 inches by 50 ring.
This cigar is 6 inches long, or 152.4 mm.
Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.
Cigar Ring Gauge
The cigar ring gauge corresponds to the diameter of a cigar, this cigar has a ring gauge of 50, so his diameter is 50/64 inches or 19.81 mm.
Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Natural wrapper, also known as Colorado Claro, is light brown in color.
Handmade cigars are completely made by hand from start to finish.
Tabacalera La Palma
Tabacalera La Palma was founded in 1925 by Jose Arnaldo Blanco, one of the first cigar factories in the Dominican Republic. Currently, the company's CEO is Jochy Blanco, the 4th generation to run the family's business. Located in Tamboril, on the outskirts of Santiago, Dominican Republic, La Palma employs over 300 people and supports independent tobacco growers in the community.
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
The Sumatra cigar wrapper is a dark leaf from the "black tobacco" sub-species family. It was first planted in the western Indonesian island of Sumatra by a Dutch explorer in the 1500s. Sumatra-seed tobacco is being cultivated in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Ecuador, and Nicaragua.
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.
Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
