Macanudo Maduro Vintage 1997 Churchill 7 * 49, Box of 12

Although known for their classic mild offerings, Macanudo proudly walks on the dark side, too. The Macanudo Maduro Vintage 1997 is a bold, full-bodied cigar that uses a dark USA Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper on top of a Honduran binder and a delicious filler combination consisting of tobaccos from Dominican Republic, Brazil and Nicaragua. Strong and rich, the Broadleaf used for the wrapper was found in the exceptional 1997 crop, deemed as some of the best ever grown. Each cigar wears an elegant metal ring as its band, which also doubles as a cigar holder.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

One of my favorite smokes. Strength is a medium to medium strong. Great oily wrapper. Taste doesn't change a great a amount the further down you smoke. It gets I little stronger as you smoke but stays pretty consistent. Would reccomend. 10/10

While I think the metal band is neat, it cased the wrapper to split and crack. The prelight had a very interesting taste, but it didn't carry over suring the smoke.The burn was a little uneven. It was a good smoke over all, people should try it. Although it won't be my constant "go to".

Great aroma and decent flavour to start. A little less smoke output than I like, but there are notes of cedar, and cacao. A run developed moving deeper into the first third, but resolved itself with no assistance. I definitely enjoy the sweetness of this maduro wrapper, both in smoke and taste on the lips. Smoke output picked up in the second third with consistent flavours. In the final third the body kickEd up a notch but the flavours remain the same. The burn was consistent since the run fixed itself. Great draw. Good flavours. It’s a good smoke.

Great cigar. I didn't get the complex flavors everyone describes. I got pepper and cocoa. Nice aroma. Took me nearly 2 hours to the nub. Will definitely be getting another box. Although when i first received them, they were snuggled in the rough feeling "velvet" tray. I think that caused them to dry up. Had to incubate for 2 weeks before my first smoke.

Loved the cigar the first time I tried it, however after I received a box of them, the metal piece on it has begun to slip on quite a few of them AND something may be wrong with the burn because it burns completely uneven on half of the cigars. Was very please but with this continuing with the past two orders, I am starting to worry.

The aroma out of the box is fantastic; exactly what you want a cigar to smell like. The taste, just as nice. Burn needed a little touch up, but acceptable. The ring can be a pain, but a unique touch regardless. Overall, a great stick!

The MAC MAD Vintage 1997 has been discontinued based on General Cigar, this is why I have been wanting them and will make a great collection for my humidor. The delivery was quick and when I removed the plastic wrap from the box and open it there was a signed document that show the bale wt and date of release from the Dominican Republic. I hope to purchase another box to smoke a few. The other reviews confirm this cigar as one to invest. They will not be around much longer - based on General Cigar.

Have not smoked yet, getting some age on them. Cigar came with metal bands (which are limited production). Cigars came scuffed as I had ordered 4, and they were in the same bag, to which the bands must have hit the cigars.

Smokes like a far more expensive brand. Easily the best in the Macanudo line. When these are gone as one would assume would be soon as the claim that they are a limited old stock it will be sad. If mysteriously they continue to have them year after year one would wonder what is really in them to make them smoke to alternately then the rest of their brand line. Get them while you can.

This Maduro is aged to perfection. Great smooth draw all the way through. Never any bitterness, I smoke these down to the nub. I put this right up there with Padron Anniversary, Liga Privada no.9 and other premium cigars

Besides being a beautiful looking cigar, this Macanudo Vintage happens to also be a delightful maduro to smoke! This broadleaf maduro wrapper is extra nice as it has been aged for a long time and it definitely shows. The cigar starts off with nuttiness then moves into more spicy, cedary notes. Into the 2nd third, the notes become more sweet. The last third finishes with nuttiness. It also happens to be a slow burning cigar which means you need to allow extra time to really enjoy it. The extra time is well worth it!! Overall a great smoke.
